Background

In the intricate tapestry of Delhi’s urban landscape, the Bhat Camp stands as a poignant testament to resilience, heritage, and the enduring human spirit. Centuries ago, its inhabitants moved to the city of Delhi with a hope of earning a livelihood. They bear a legacy spanning generations of keeping records, this occupation was a cornerstone of their identity and livelihood. However, the relentless march of technological progress, , abruptly ended this chapter, plunging the community into economic uncertainty.

Undeterred by adversity, they discovered a new path, transforming their skills into a vibrant art form. With deft hands and creative minds, they embarked on a journey of crafting exquisite handicrafts and embroidering beautiful designs breathing life into inanimate materials. Yet, the challenges persisted. Homelessness loomed large, forcing them to seek shelter in a land belonging to the Delhi Development Authority (DDA). Through sheer determination, they established a makeshift community near the Tuglaqabad railway station, building homes from scratch.

Our collaboration with these professionals

Despite their humble beginnings, the spirit of enterprise and creativity flourished within the Bhat Camp. Its residents transformed into skilled artisans, sharing their knowledge with future generations through art and moral education. Their dedication to their craft took them across the country and beyond, inspiring countless individuals with their talent and resilience. They host various training sessions and demonstrations for children belonging to numerous states and countries and play a huge role in instilling creativity and innovation in the generations to come.

Recognizing the immense potential of these artisans, our organization has embarked on a mission to empower them further. By providing a digital platform free of cost, we aim to connect their exquisite creations with a wider audience, offering them a sustainable livelihood. Our commitment extends beyond mere commerce; it is an endeavor to celebrate their heritage, amplify their voices, and contribute to their economic independence. At present, we have collaborated with 100+ artisans and we aspire to extend our support to as many of these artisans as possible. We work towards their integrated and holistic development.

The Bhat Camp story is a living testament to the human capacity for adaptation, creativity, and perseverance. It is a narrative of resilience etched against the backdrop of urban challenges. Our role is to be a catalyst, empowering these artisans to reach their full potential and share their artistic brilliance with the world.
