Get involved

This work runs on people who decided to show up.

There is no single way to help. What we need most varies by season and by case — here is everything that is genuinely useful.

Ways to contribute

Six routes in.

Each links to what the commitment actually involves — hours, skills required and what you would be doing.

Volunteer

Field documentation, translation, data entry, community outreach and event support. Most roles are a few hours a week and many can be done remotely.

Volunteer roles

Offer professional skills

Lawyers, paralegals, doctors, accountants, researchers, designers and translators. Pro bono professional time is often worth more to a case than a donation.

Register your skills

Fund the work

A one-off gift or a monthly commitment. Regular giving is what lets us take cases that run for two years rather than only those that close quickly.

Donate

Partner as an organisation

CSR programmes, foundations, law firms, universities and unions. We work with institutional partners on funded projects, research and legal capacity.

Partner with us

Intern with a field team

Structured placements in legal aid, research and communications for students and early-career professionals — with real casework, not filing.

Internships

Work with us

Field coordinators, paralegals, researchers and programme staff. Paid roles across our operating states.

Before you commit

What we ask of anyone joining.

Consistency over intensity. Two hours a week for six months is more useful than a weekend of enthusiasm. Casework runs long, and workers should not have to re-explain their situation to a new face each month.

Confidentiality, without exception. Volunteers see real names, addresses and case details. Cases involving children, trafficking or ongoing threat are restricted, and everyone signs an undertaking before field access.

Follow the worker's lead. The person in the case decides what happens to their case. Our role is to make the options clear and then act on the one they choose — including when they choose not to proceed.

Not sure where you would fit?

Tell us what you can offer and how much time you have. We will suggest something honest rather than something flattering.
