Context
Why this work exists.
Migrant workers, individuals who leave their homes to seek employment in other regions or countries, form a significant portion of the global workforce.
They face exploitation through low wages and unsafe conditions, labour trafficking, and debt-financed migration that creates vulnerability from the moment they leave. The Inter-State Migrant Workmen (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 1979 governs recruitment and conditions of service; we publish it in English and Hindi so workers and field teams can cite it directly.
How we work

Community outreach
Regular meetings with migrant communities, so contact is continuous rather than only at the point of crisis.
Rehabilitation programmes
Counselling and vocational training for survivors of exploitation.
Legal aid
Assistance with labour disputes and with the documentation that inter-state migration requires.
Social support
Counselling and community-building activities that reduce the isolation which makes exploitation possible.
